Metamucil made my symptoms alot worse when I suffered with adhesions, and
even since my adhesiolysis. It causes me severe bloating and discomfort no
matter how much water I drink. Unfortunately many of us have to use
laxatives, you may stop in a healthfood store and see which natural
laxatives they recommend.
Treating someone with adhesions is different from treating a typical IBS
patient (though our bowels can certainly be irratable!), because we usually
do not respond well to high fiber diets, but rather low residue diets, which
would mean avoiding fibers.
There is alot of information on this site if you search the archives and
read through previous posts. The main thing I would suggest is that you
educate yourself on ARD, and don't rush into surgery with any old physician!
If you haven't read our stories on the quilt, you may want to do so. This is
what I did when I found this site, and it helped me make good decisions.
